Caroline Swan

I was born and live in Caithness where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. I produced quite a lot of work in the eighties prior to following a career in advocacy. I have only recently got back into creative expression.

A keen conservationist I work with a variety of recycled materials and multi media. Often overlapping images to create strange manscapes. I try to paint things that are hidden or unseen,… like a bullying wind or the feeling of wonder and vertigo we get when looking up into the stars!

I’m so excited at being chosen as one of the artists for the Industrial Caithness exhibition. I’m at the planning stage for one of my pieces for the exhibition. “Drystone Waller” After doing an initial sketch for this I’ve used a photo editing app to merge the sketch with a seascape background. This really helps me to experiment with how I may want the end painting to look.
