I’m pleased to say my proposal for the Industrial Caithness exhibition was selected by the jury.

I’m hoping to produce 2 paintings in oils depicting Thurso Harbour and Scrabster Harbour, building them on the ground of their past. My plan is to collage photo copies of old photographs and documents of both harbours dating back to late 1800s early 1900s, distressing the boards to the desired effect. The painting will show present day views built on their respective pasts, I find it fascinating that the two harbours have changed in role and importance, Thurso used to be an extremely busy port, seeing ships coming and going every day, now not much traffic at all, Scrabster used to be a quiet port but now it is far busier with loads of ships coming and going.
My intention is to have the 2 works the same size and framed in the same style.
